A STITCHING STORY
PATTERN BY KAREN JOHN
This is an Australian designed pattern I ordered as a kit including pattern, linen, and scraps of Liberty of London fabric. All the #8 perle thread was ordered in the US. I know better than to order kits as invariably either one gets unsold leftover bits of Liberty or there is some other problem which makes one wonder if the assembler of the kit has missed the point altogether. Lesson learned. Better to buy just the pattern since you will have to buy fabric anyway.
Of course I changed up the pattern a bit. Here is a copy of the original design which you can see is just lovely.
The finished hanging measured about 22 inches by 22 inches. I had never heard of some of the stitches so I had to drag out my embroidery books and was most helped by looking up the how to on my tablet.
Here are closeups of my hanging:
This project was very fun to make but frustrating at time when learning the tricky stitches. I love the addition of the yellow in the border. Giving credit where it is due, I got the idea for the pink fan design in the lower left corner from a Pinterest picture.
Work progresses on the last of the WIPs remaining before I can begin the new project. Here is a status photo.
I have winter and summer to finish, square up the quilt, added the borders and VIOLA!
AND NOW......
YOUR MONENT OF ZEN
A beetle's foot under a microscope. I don't know what kind of wondrous beetle this is or, apologies, no attribution.
